Olive Branch Family Medical

Olive Branch Family Medicine - an innovative, forward-looking practice committed to providing superior care in a patient-centered, cost-effective manner.

Led by Dr. Randy Huling, Joe Huling and Paula Aldridge, Olive Branch has a history of being recognized as a leader in health care information technology deployment.  In 2008, NextGen named OBFMC the Best Practice Award winner.  Additionally, OBFMC was recently named a finalist for the HIMSS Nicholas E. Davies Award of Excellence.  The Davies Award recognizes excellence in the implementation and value derived from health information technology, specifically EHRs. The Davies committee recognizes only a handful of clinics each year; OBFMC was the only Mid-South finalist for the 2009 ambulatory award.

Leveraging the NextGen integrated practice management and electronic health record solutions, OBFMC has become a shining example of the possibilities inherent in the adoption of health care information technology.

OBFMC was built from the ground up with the NextGen EHR/EPM system.  Organizational structure, as well as clinical and administrative workflow, was designed to ensure the EHR complemented and advanced OBFMC goals and objectives. Since the beginning, they have continued to improve and enhance the system so that they can provide the highest quality of service to those they serve.

Some of the improvements include:
  1. Full incorporation of the specialty-specific NextGen Knowledge Base Model (KBM), a comprehensive set of templates, forms and menus designed to enhance care delivery and documentation for physician practices.
  2. Development of relationships to establish specific quality improvement measures in conjunction with Medicare’s Information and Quality Healthcare office in Mississippi. In 2009, OBFMC developed a series of baseline data sets that would be measured quarterly and reported to Medicare, including: mammography, colorectal screening, flu immunizations and pneumonia immunizations.
  3. Development of interfaces with medical devices such as EKGs, etc.
  4. Creation of specialized software programs called CareSentry and OrderSentry, completely integrated with the EHR, which, among other things, generate an order summary template to review if ordered labs, tests, procedures, etc., have been completed.
  5. Creation of a specialized Research Evaluation application (ReCES) completely integrated with the EHR, enabling providers to access the OBFMC database to determine study feasibility and quickly enroll patient in appropriate clinical studies.
Olive Branch Family Medical Center strives to fulfill its motto of “Care, Compassion, and Commitment to the Community” on a daily basis. SERGEmd is proud of our affiliation.
